Eradicating Poverty: Case Studies from Asia

Are the poor an inevitable feature in any society?(2004)

Should poorer countries develop their tourist industry when the basic needs of their own people are not being met? (2007)

Is the elimination of global poverty a realistic aim?

These are difficult pictures to process, emotionally and mentally.

But they are worth confronting if we were to allow our intellectual training to sensitize us to the complexities in addressing human struggle and suffering in our time.

Let's move beyond stories in continental Africa and turn our hearts deeper into Asia to examine the extent to which poverty has been tackled on various fronts.

Why are some countries more likely to succeed than others?

Are the challenges similar to specific states on the African continent?

How would a better understanding of poverty in its different forms (and guises) refine our knowledge and understanding whenever we write about them?

Let not another essay be the sole means in passing another exam.

My poverty is not complete:  it lacks me.
