But why do people look for (or treasure having) role models in life?
Do our expectations of them change over time?
Will we feel betrayed by the foibles they make?
Is there such a thing as negative role modeling?
Besides the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew ( I can imagine the amount of aimless rattle to come if an AQ passage were to be set on this topic), notable alumni and perhaps our parents, is there something to gain by reflecting more about what they have achieved?
Should achievement be based only on positive merits or is there such a thing as productive failure in our appraisal of those who have made an impact on us?
Do they remind us of what it means to be human or warn us about ways we can lose touch with who we are?
